A Woman of the Soil

That is me.

On what basis? Simple. The feel of soil on my fingers brings me great delight!

For this, I have to express my unending gratitude to my deceased maternal grandfather, Lolo Merto, who exposed us to farm life when we were still young. During my childhood, a visit to the rural rustic environment was something I would always await for. There, I would breathe in the earthy smell, gratify my eyes by just looking at its color and be ecstatic once my bare feet make contact with it.
This special bond with the earth is also the reason why I love nature and the outdoors (see related article at https://wanderingjouster.com/2013/11/08/the-irresistible-appeal/). Given a twist in my being, I could be a hermit or may be a Maria Makiling clone 😌 so I could find the perfect solace in the woods.

But as of today, my normal life is overly blessed when I commune with nature in the presence of my loved ones and take what it generously offers while time permits.

Doubtlessly, a trip to my husband’s ancestral house in Indang, Cavite would morph me into that kind of persona which may never be envied by those modern women whose source of joy would be the suburbs.

    1. Hi, Josephine.

Salamat.

    1. Oo. Hindi nya kinaya sobrang init.

Unstable pa rin overseas work. Ganyan din sa company nila ngayon. May mga hindi na nirerenew ang contract. We continue to pray for him and all the OFW’s. You included, Josephine. 🙏

Thank you for your regular messages.

    1. Hi, Josephine.

My deepest condolences to you and your family. I know how painful it is to lose a loved one, but God has always the reason why we are given this trial. I am praying that you cope with the loss.

If not for your post, I won’t be dropping by WJ.

Oh, I see. Whatever the message is thank you very much, Josephine.

Take care and thank you for keeping in touch. 🙂

My goal with this blog is to offend everyone in the world at least once with my words… so no one has a reason to have a heightened sense of themselves. We are all ignorant, we are all found wanting, we are all bad people sometimes.
