If there is one endearing quality my husband has, it is his being consistently thoughtful and sweet.
But if truth be told, I think he took great pains in becoming one from the very first year of our marriage.
Having an open line of communication between us, I had to tell him that our expressions of love come in different forms. For someone who was not oriented of being showy of his affection to his family, I had to be a patient teacher to him. The result was tremendous and in fact it surpassed my being thoughtful and sweet myself! Hahahahaha…
July 18 was our weekend get-away which Larry had prepared before his 14-day break here in the Philippines after the end of Ramadan. His homecoming was kept from our three sons, making it also as a surprise when he arrived July 17. Saturday, was my turn to be doubly surprised by this man who has known my weakness for surprises.
I made mention of his surprise treat to me at https://wanderingjouster.com/2015/08/08/an-ethnic-paradise/. In this article, I told you about his first unexpected belated graduation gift to me. It was something I did not even wish of having because I am already satisfied with what he gave me before.
Yup, got a new toy to explore! Funny is I am not a tech-savvy person. Owning this would mean, I have to acquaint myself with the new features. Am I complaining? Of course not! I can’t say no to this amazing blessing.
But what topped this thoughtfulness and sweetness came July 30. This was a day before his return to his overseas work.
Checking my mobile phone during my lunch break, I saw three missed calls and a message that he was at the car park of San Beda College Alabang with my hairbrush and tablet which I forgot at home. I quickly went down from the department’s office to meet him.
Then, he struck again!
A bouquet from my ex-boyfriend! Yay!
It was my first time to receive flowers from him in San Beda and it elicited reactions from my former students and colleagues. They all became curious what the occasion was.
There was no special event to commemorate on that Thursday. My man just happens to be someone who says it best with flowers and with his well-loved surprises.
