this encounter took place at the very ground of san beda college alabang when the department of international studies, in partnership with the department of foreign affairs, had its parade in celebration of the 46th ASEAN foundation day yesterday, september 17.

participated in by some of my very own students of BAIST (bachelor of arts in international studies and tourism) sections 1A and 1B and even my former students in the higher level, the procession extremely delighted me. likewise, i was hyped to see these IS students sashay in these colorful, beautiful, and exotic traditional costumes which i personally would love to wear. a patron of southeast asian fashion, i could have taken a closer and individual photo of each attire if i had the time to follow them to st. maur hall where the program would be held with representatives from the local government of muntinlupa, from the DFA, and foreign dignitaries from the embassies of ASEAN members. unfortunately, i would already have my next class at 12 nn.

nevertheless, this occasion served as a breath of fresh air in the campus. to add, this was a good medium to remind us to maintain very close ties with our ASEAN neighbors so that in times of national crisis we have them to turn to for aid.

  1. Beautiful. What a fun blog. Thank you for enjoying the OM interview. I’d love the input: did you come over from his blog or off the Reader? He and I have been struggling with technical connectivity issues and we’re trying to figure things out. Thanks.
