spotlight on a knight

as the love month is about to bid farewell today, my knight was in jubilation.

their team won in two games during the palaro among grade two pupils in the IBED. he brought home 1 gold for “tug-o’-war” and 1 silver for “dodgeball”. he was very very happy for these “awards”. there was no longer a trace of worry which he underwent the night before especially for the third game, the obstacle relay (see related post at he told me about their loss in this event and minus the whining, i was relieved to see that he already accepted their defeat a little maturely.
upon arriving in our house, he immediately took the medals out from the boxes, wore them with his very first medal, and requested me to take a picture of his so i could write something about it in my blog! 🙂 🙂 🙂 he kind of expect already that i, too, would be celebrating his victory via wj.

looking at my youngest son’s smile in this photo, i was reminded by  andrea dworkin’s words on a mother’s pride:
“For a mother the project of raising a boy is the most fulfilling project she can hope for. She can watch him, as a child, play the games she was not allowed to play; she can invest in him her ideas, aspirations, ambitions, and values — or whatever she has left of them; she can watch her son, who came from her flesh and whose life was sustained by her work and devotion, embody her in the world. So while the project of raising a boy is fraught with ambivalence and leads inevitably to bitterness, it is the only project that allows a woman to be — to be through her son, to live through her son.”
i am filled with great joy seeing that lancelot the knight is finding his own place in this competitive world.
